Harvest 2010 at Charron - Saturday August 7

Harvest time is now here and we will once again be welcoming friends of Charron Vineyards to help with the picking. The date of the harvest is set for Saturday August 7.

No experience or tools are necessary, but if you are an experienced picker, feel free to bring your own shears. Even though we are at 4000+ feet, it can get pretty hot as the day progresses - you might want to bring some sunscreen and/or a hat, if only to shade yourself on the deck after the harvest!

We start around 5am (or as early as you can make it! ) and hope to finish the picking around 1pm. Don’t be put off by the early start time. It looks like we will have plenty of grapes to pick this year so even late arrivals can join in.

We also need help with prep work on the Friday (August 6) preceding harvest with activities such as removing bird netting and setting up equipment. If you can make it on Friday, please let us know.

It's a lot of fun and you will experience firsthand the start of the production of this year’s release of White Merlot. We might even start a batch of red Merlot this year if we have sufficient grapes. You will have to wait a couple years to taste the red, however.

As always, wine tastings are held every Friday through Sunday 10 till 6 and by appointment.

Directions From Tucson:
∙ Take Arizona Hwy 83 South, Sonoita Hwy, (Exit 281) from Interstate 10 (approx 25 miles East of Tucson)..
∙ Follow 83S approx 6 miles, watch for mile marker 53. About 7/10 of a mile past the mile marker, on the east (left) side of road, you will see a large pull-off with several mailboxes and orange newspaper boxes.
∙ Turn left into the pull-off and follow the dirt road 3/4 miles to the gates of Charron Vineyards.

Directions From Sonoita:
∙ Take Arizona Hwy 83 North approximately 19 miles from the intersection of Hwy 82 and 83 in Sonoita..
∙ Watch for mile marker 52. About 2/10 of a mile past the mile marker, on the east (right) side of road, you will see a large pull-off with several mailboxes and orange newspaper boxes.
∙ Turn right into the pull-off and follow the dirt road 3/4 miles to the gates of Charron Vineyards.
