Charron's harvest usually happens around the first weekend of August, but that can vary depending on the year.
In 2024, we harvested August 2nd-4th, and in 2023 we harvested August 3rd-6th.
We always post the dates on our website and social media. You can also sign up for our newsletter here.
No sign-up required! Just show up whenever is convenient for you during our Harvest hours (which will be posted on our website and social media accounts).
We suggest bringing a few large water bottles full of icy, cold water. Sun protection is a must, including sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses. Closed-toed shoes are best, and a lightweight, long-sleeved work shirt can also protect you from the heat and bugs. If you have garden clippers that you like, please bring them! We will have some to borrow as well.
Any age can participate, and kids are welcome! They will love eating fresh, warm grapes right off the vines. Children must be supervised at all times.
Please leave pet dogs at home. While dogs are welcome in the Tasting Room during normal business hours, it's best not to bring them to harvest. Thank you!
Yes! You can get paid in wine if you help us harvest! Basically, for every four hours of work, helpers over the age of 21 can earn one bottle of wine. If you and your friend both do two hours, you will earn one bottle together. If you do two hours on two separate days, you will earn one bottle. Our Harvest Queen, Lori, will keep track of your hours in the Tasting Room, so be sure to check in and out with her when you come in.
Additionally, you can receive our Employee Discount on the day that you help out! That's 25% off all food, glasses and bottles of wine for that day only (yes, that includes wine slushies!) Thanks for being part of the team!
We will also have tables of free snacks, non-alcoholic beverages and popsicles to share.
Come in to the Tasting Room during our Harvest Hours. We suggest coming earlier rather than later, just because it's more comfortable (temperature-wise). Check in with Lori and she will add your name(s) to her spreadsheet. Then, she will tell you where to go.
You will head out to a "block" of vines and be given a bucket. An employee will show you how to cut down bunches of grapes. It's SUPER easy! You literally just cut the bunch at the top of the stem and place the bunch into your bucket. Move on down the row until you are full! Repeat. Employees will be driving around in a golf cart to collect your grapes.
Feel free to take photos of your grapes, family, and the beautiful scenery! This is a great opportunity to be part of the farm and help out a growing local business. Thank you!
Our vineyard is almost exclusively MERLOT. Yum! The grapes are small, sweet and delicious. Feel free to taste one!
Perhaps! We are a working farm and critters are all part of the territory (literally)! We definitely suggest closed toed shoes for this reason. Most of the snakes we encounter are "good guys" although if you see one, just let an employee know. As for bugs, we do sometimes have bees and wasps so take care, and if you have a severe allergy you may want to avoid the fields. You will mostly just see normal, run of the mill creatures in the vineyard.
Yes! Charron Vineyards will be open for normal Tasting Room hours this weekend during Harvest. Volunteers will be in the fields harvesting grapes from 5:30am - 10:30am each day, but the Tasting Room will be open as usual at noon on Friday and 11:00 on Saturday and Sunday. So, if you are not able to harvest this year, feel free to swing by for a glass of wine with us!
Please email us at info@charronvineyards.com if you have more questions and we will try to get back to you! You can also message us on our Facebook page.
