Harvest 2026 is complete! Thank you!
Charron Vineyards is harvested by YOU - the volunteers in our community! This is a long-standing tradition at Charron Vineyards (and tons of fun). Bring the family, earn wine for your efforts, and do something unique while helping out a local family-owned business.
Grapes are only harvested once each year.
Harvest History:
2026: Harvest was July 17th-18th
2025: Harvest was August 8th-9th
2024: Harvest was August 2nd-4th
2023: Harvest was August 3rd-6th
No sign-up is required! Just show up whenever is convenient for you during our Harvest hours (5:30 am - 10:30 am each day). You can stay as long as you like, whether that's one hour or the whole time. You can help out on one day or all three! We will track your volunteer hours (volunteers over the age of 21 will earn one bottle of wine for every 4 hours worked).
Large water bottles full of icy, cold water
Sun protection, including sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses
Closed-toed shoes
Lightweight, long-sleeved work shirt can protect you from heat and bugs.
Garden clippers (if you have them)
If you would like to bring lunch or snacks you are welcome to do so, but we will provide snacks and non-alcoholic beverages for all volunteers.
Any age can participate, and kids are welcome! They will love eating fresh, warm grapes right off the vines.
Children must be supervised at all times.
Please leave pet dogs at home. While dogs are welcome in the Tasting Room during normal business hours, it's best not to bring them to harvest. Grapes are toxic to dogs and it does get too warm for pets as the day progresses. Thank you!
Yes! You can get paid in wine if you help us harvest!
For every four hours of work, helpers over the age of 21 can earn one bottle of wine. If you and your friend both do two hours, you will earn one bottle together. If you do two hours on two separate days, you will earn one bottle.
We will keep track of your hours in the Tasting Room, so be sure to check in and out with us when you come in.
Additionally, you can receive our Employee Discount on the day that you help out! That's 25% off all food, glasses and bottles of wine for that day only (yes, that includes wine slushies!)
Thanks for being part of the team!
We will also have tables of free snacks, non-alcoholic beverages and popsicles to share.
Come in to the Tasting Room during our Harvest Hours. We suggest coming earlier rather than later, just because it's more comfortable (temperature-wise).
Check in with staff and we will add your name(s) to the spreadsheet. Then, we will tell you where to go.
You will head out to a "block" of vines and be given a bucket. An employee will show you how to cut down bunches of grapes. It's SUPER easy! You literally just cut the bunch at the top of the stem and place the bunch into your bucket. Move on down the row until you are full! Repeat. Employees will be driving around in a golf cart to collect your grapes.
Feel free to take photos of your grapes, family, and the beautiful scenery! This is a great opportunity to be part of the farm and help out a growing local business. Thank you!
Our vineyard is almost exclusively MERLOT. Yum! The grapes are small, sweet and delicious. Feel free to taste one!
Charron Vineyard's volunteer harvest started as far back as the 1990's, when Leo Cox planted his first grapes. Leo counted on a few friends and neighbors to pick grapes and help with winemaking, and that tradition has stuck around!
Charron is very small compared to other vineyards in the area, and we only have about 11 employees! Even though we only grow 5 acres of grapes, it's still too much for our team to do alone. Plus, the community loves to help us harvest! in 2025 we had 100 volunteers which is a record. We were able to harvest the entire 5 acres in just two days.
Charron's annual harvest is a long-standing tradition that we look forward to every year. And our volunteers don't go unappreciated! For every four hours of work done by someone who is 21+, they earn a bottle of wine. You also get our employee discount all day, which is 25% off all wine and food.
People come back to harvest year after year. Kids love to eat the warm grapes right off the vines. We are proud to provide a look into a real, working farm right here in Vail, Arizona.
Perhaps! We are a working farm and critters are all part of the territory (literally)! We definitely suggest closed toed shoes for this reason. Most of the snakes we encounter are "good guys", although if you see one, just let an employee know.
As for bugs, we do sometimes have bees and wasps so take care, and if you have a severe allergy you may want to avoid the fields. Be careful as you reach into the vines and look for wasps first.
You will mostly just see normal, run of the mill creatures in the vineyard. If you are a birder, you will spot several unique species.
Yes! Charron Vineyards will be open for normal Tasting Room hours this weekend during Harvest. Volunteers will be in the fields harvesting grapes from 5:30am - 10:30am each day, but the Tasting Room will be open as usual at noon on Friday and 11:00 on Saturday and Sunday. So, if you are not able to harvest this year, feel free to swing by for a glass of wine with us!
Please email us at events@charronvineyards.com if you have more questions and we will get back to you ASAP. You can also message us on our Facebook page.
